I believe it’s safe to say that we got a good soaking yesterday! Although there was a lot of damage, it was a well needed rain! I guess I can say that since I live on TOP of a hill! There were roads blocked off because of flooding, there were parking lots around town that were under water, and a Mexican restaurant lost it’s roof! I’m sad about the restaurant, they were cheap and pretty good, their Tortilla Soup was the best around, AND they were close! We didn’t have to drive far to go out to eat!!
I was worried about my garden. Brian had to push 2 of my tomato plants back down in the ground. It was like something just pulled them up a bit! I guess that something was RAIN! We had rain, which was pretty steady for about 10 hours!! 3.5 of those hours we spent without electricity! Granted to a 3 year old, the lights going out is pretty fun, you get to have candles lit all around you and you get your very own flashlight to play with! You also get to have fun in the coat closet!! All in all Eric thought it was pretty neat, Kiel just kinda went along with it! Maybe next time he’ll have his gameboy where it belongs so he’ll be able to find it in the dark!!
I got out of meeting Brian at the carwash. There wasn’t much for him to do anyway, he couldn’t open the door to empty the trash into the dumpster. The water too deep!
Hopefully this will do wonders for my grass and veggie plants!!
Last night was Kiel’s turn to spend the night with his Aunt and Uncle. He was very excited! When the boys get to go with them, they usually get to go to Sheridan’s! Now that Brian and I are watching what we eat (again), we don’t take the boys there! AND, who can afford Sheridan’s for 5 people!!!
Since I only have 2 kiddos, and Brian is at work, I was thinking about going to the mall and getting Eric a new pair of shoes. Then I realized that today is Sunday and the last place I want to be is at the mall on the weekend! That whole area really!! So, maybe I’ll go tomorrow or Wednesday! I can usually find Stride Rite shoes cheaper at Nordstrom’s than I can at the Stride Rite store, but the Stride Rite store has more choices! Luckily Nordstrom’s is an anchor store, so I park there, look at what they’ve got and remember prices, then I walk down to the Stride Rite store and see what they’ve got, have them measure him and then make my decision!
The weather is beautiful right now. I’ll enjoy it, we’re supposed to get rain on Tuesday, but I like the rain also, so I’ll still think it’s beautiful! I’m planning on doing school tomorrow in the front yard. It’ll be nice and it will give Kiel a break in routine! We might have to do it in the backyard, since I’m planning on hanging out laundry, and giving the electric bill a break in routine also!!
I guess since Kiel’s not here, I’ll be the one to chain up that dog! Wish me luck!

I tell you what, I just don’t know how to act….I got another appliance! I got a dishwasher last Friday! Our old one was leaving this powder-y film on most of the dishes, resulting in those dishes being left in the DW and ran again. That just seemed extremely wasteful! So I quit using the DW. I hand washed dishes for a week, then last Friday Brian decided that we would go get a new DW. (Time and a half for 12 hours on Good Friday help influence this decision!) As we were leaving the house, Brian told me that he wanted me to know that he would not be buying a Stainless Steel dishwasher. I, in turn, told him that I wanted him to know that I would still press the issue when we got to the store! He smiled!! We had really planned on taking the SS inserts that he made for me out of the DW that was broken and put them in the new one! BUT….most DW’s now have one long panel in the front. My old one had 2 pieces, one main piece and one small piece at the bottom. SO, that got scratched! BUT, we did find a DW in our price range that was SS in the front. I really wanted SS on the inside also, but that was a few more $100, so I didn’t press it!
I’m shocked at how clean the dishes are! Everything is so nice and shiny! Brian says it’s because he put (against my begging) the rinse aid in! I’ll be putting vinegar in that spot as soon as that runs out! He also said it cleaned better because we used the Cascade that came with the DW. I don’t think so. That lasted for a few loads and we’re back to our regular detergent, 7th Generation. You can go here to get coupons for 7th Generation products! You can buy a bunch of their stuff at Kroger!! Go….Save some oil!!

Well, Brian is working another Sunday! This will eventually make 3 Sundays in a row! There was a chance that he’d work last Friday, but he didn’t. I’d have rather had him work on Friday than today! BUT, time and 1/2 is time and 1/2 and we can use any and all of that!!
This also means that I get to run to Target on a SUNDAY with 3 boys by myself! I’ll bribe them with Chick-Fil-A!! They like that place, but I’m not getting them shakes!
Jackson can’t wait to go to Target. He found $2 at the carwash this morning and is wanting to buy some Hot Wheels! I’m sure Kiel and Eric will talk me into some sort of toy also! I bet I can find me something also……..Ok, this is starting to sound pretty good…….Target Therapy……I get to go to Target today without Brian! I get to BROWSE!!!! I’m getting all goose pimply!!!

Don’t you just love Easter? Everything is nice and green. Beautiful weather, blue skies, bright colorful flowers. Little boys running around in dress shirts with cute little crisply ironed shorts. The screams of joy when they realize that they can’t fit anymore candy filled eggs in their basket. Spending the afternoon searching out the perfect Blue Bonnet field for Easter pictures…….
<SCREEECH>
That wasn’t the scene this year it was COLD!!! I bundled loaded up the boys and we headed out to my cousins house for Easter dinner. It was nice, my Great Aunt was in town. I haven’t seen her since I was pregnant with Eric! Jackson got to see her when they went down for her surprise b’day party.
We had quite a table full! There are 4 in my cousin’s family, plus a friend of my cousin’s and then my Great Aunt, Nana and Grandad, and the 4 of us! There was lots of food!!! I baked some whole wheat bread and I made a banana pudding that was out of this world ifIdosaysomyself I was shocked that Hubs not only said it was good, but ate bunches of it!
We almost didn’t stay once we got there. Jackson had been laying down in the back seat most of the way to my cousins’, I kept telling him to sit up. When we got there, he hurried outside and got sick on the curb. I was thinking we should just turn around and head back home. Nana thought since he’d just gotten rid of all of the chocolate that he’d be fine. He was! He ate a healthy amount lunch and was wanting more chocolate!! I had them wait to eat more chocolate until we got home!
After lunch, eggs got hidden!! Eric had fun, when he’d find an egg that was open, he’d take his time and put the candy back in and then try to snap the egg back together! We kept telling him to just throw it in his basket and run and get more! Jackson didn’t waist any time, he was off and hunting! Kiel went to the other side of the house and had free range!!
I think the boys have had enough chocolate to last until Halloween…at least!

I FORGOT THE CAMERA AT HOME!!
We had the Easter egg hunt this morning at church. I left the camera at home. There were lots of flashes, so hopefully I’ll end up with a copy or two! I was struggling, debating, talking myself into taking the boys this morning. Brian is at work this weekend and they boys were being heathens, boys while I was trying to get ready. I called Mom and Brian to have them talk me into taking the boys. Of course I ended up taking them. I’m glad I did. Luckily the hunt was inside. CAN YOU BELIEVE WE HAD SNOW TODAY?? And it’s in the forecast for tomorrow! The 2’s and 3’s went first. Eric walked around with his basket looking at all of the eggs. He’d pick one up and look at it and smile and put it right back down!! I told him that he was supposed to put them in his basket. OH? Basket? he asked. Then I told him to see how many he could get and off he went!! Then Kiel came in and went right infront of Eric getting all of the eggs. I pointed out to Kiel what he was doing and as he realized, he started helping Eric find eggs! Jackson was right in the middle of the ages and ended up with a decent haul! Some of the eggs had money in them and Kiel ended up with $2 and Eric got $1. Jackson was bummed that he didn’t get any. Oh well, Eric’s went into the change cup!!
We finally got home and the boys acted like they’d never had candy before. I let them gorge themselves eat for a while, then when they couldn’t hold there own heads up, I gathered the baskets and made a community candy bowl! Now if they want candy, they have to go to the kitchen table and eat the candy there!
I think I’ll even take them to sunrise service in the morning!

I got some more Target Therapy today!! Had to run and get a few things that I forgot for the banana pudding. AND while I was there, I got to use some of my Target gift card!!! I stopped at Starbuck’s on the way out and bought myself the cutest mug! It’s purple and has pinks and purples, some shiny, flowers all around it. AND it has a purple lid!!! It’s not that I’m crazy for pinks and purples, but being the ONLY girl in a house FULL of boys, I like to have some things that scream GIRL! While I was getting a new cup, I figured I’d better go ahead and break it in right, so I had them fill it with White Chocolate Mocha!! I saved myself about 150 cals and got it with nonfat milk and had them nix the whip cream!!! It was still YUM-O!!
AND, I’ve still got $$ left on my card…..SO MORE REASONS TO BROWSE TARGET!!!

I got my hair cut today!!! I’m so excited! I haven’t had my hair done in 18 months I didn’t have a clue what color(s) or what style I wanted. Kristi is so helpful when it came to choosing! She IS a magician, as well as a beautician! Brian wanted me to keep my length. I did show him that at least 3″ would have to be taken off, just to get it to look good! That’s about all she took off! My hair looks very healthy now! She did an all over color of brown to even it up and then did a light copper and a reddish copper as high/low lights. I have to say my hair is stunning! This chic knows her stuff! Brian was happy that it wasn’t all wacked off! Then I got to tell him how much $$ I spent!
As an added bonus, it took 2.5 hours to do my hair. This meant that I was able to spend 3 hours just being an adult! I wasn’t anyone’s mommy and I wasn’t anyone’s wife. It was a nice break, and I was ready for Language Arts when I got home!!!
Kiel and I missed book club today, we were both sad about that! BUT, we had some errands to run, so we had to miss it. We’ll be able to make it next week!
AND, Brian has to work all weekend! He’ll even be at work during Sunrise Service. I love sunrise service. It’s so peaceful standing up on the hill at church watching the sun come up. I just don’t think I can handle all 3 boys with out Brian this year. Too many distractions for a 7 and 3 year old!
I’m taking the boys to my cousin’s house for dinner. I’m to bring a desert and bread. I am planning on taking some Hot Cross buns and I’ll bake some loaves of Whole Wheat bread to take also. I still haven’t decided what dessert I’ll bring. Is it appropriate to make AMARETTO for Easter?
I’ll probably do an egg cake. I’ll do a yellow cake, and make the inside look like confetti and top it with a buttercream icing!!
I also want to make Resurrection Cookies the night before with the boys.

Ya know I mentioned my Target trip on Wed? Well, now that it’s all off of the car, I’ll tell you a bit more about that trip! We were on the side street next to Target and there was a truck stopped in my lane. There was a truck in front of me, that didn’t realize the truck ahead was stopped, I didn’t either, and we both realized too late. The first truck was stopped, back of the truck open, paint cans rolling down our lane, and the driver chasing after them! The truck in front of me got a chance to switch lanes, but not before he drove over a can of paint, opening it as he hit it. Which left me in Brian’s WHITE Honda, unable to change lanes until I got to DRIVE through freshly emptied YELLOW paint! So in case you’ve ever wanted to know, if you go through the autobay at the carwash, it will get the paint off!
Of course this all happened the day Brian went out of town. While I was freaking out wondering how to get the paint off, Brian was in another TIME ZONE! He called right after it happened and guess what the first question was……Did you get the license plate number? NOPE, I sure didn’t! Luckily everything came off!
