Yeah, I know it was a week while ago(I keep coming back to this, maybe I’ll finish it today!), but I’m just now getting a few minutes to finish this post! It’s been saved and worked on for a while! We had a full weekend, and apparently a full few days since!
I did have a well planned few days to make the weekend’s camping trip run smoothly. I had planned on using Thursday and Friday to finish up the straggling loads of laundry, give the camper one last walk thru and make a list of things needed from the store and then go to the store. That all came to a screeching halt on Thursday morning around 10AM. That was when Brian called from work to have me call and see if we could go ahead and add Thursday night to our reservations. Work was slow and he was blessed with 2 extra days off! Which meant that my list that consisted of 2 days time now had to be shrunk into 2 hours, because we were at the state park at 12:02 on Thursday!
It was a very hurried weekend. Jackson had a baseball game Thursday night about 30 min from where we were camping, food hadn’t been bought and we had to get up earlier than normal on Friday to drive Jackson thru a few towns to get him to school.
Then Friday afternoon, we drove down to the beach area so Brian and the boys could play in the water. From the look on their faces, I knew my instincts were right. The water was COLD! Dexter and I stayed on the sidewalk and watched. Animals aren’t allowed on the beach. On the way back we drove thru another camping section and noticed that a lot of the dogs weren’t tied up. After we got back to our little spot, Brian and I let Dexter run around dragging his leash behind him. I figured at least we could step on the leash if we needed him to stop quickly! It wasn’t 5 minutes after we decided he could be free that we couldn’t find him. That is until we heard him crying! He sniffed out a fishing pole that had stink bait and a treble hook on it. By the time we made it to the front of the camper, there was quite a bit of blood. Dexter kept trying to get the hook out with his paws and managed to get all 3 hooks stuck on his tongue and soft pallet. This being Mother’s Day weekend and Friday night, there weren’t any regular vets to be found. We ended up at the animal ER a good 45 minutes away. Dexter had to be sedated in order to cut the hooks out of his mouth and we had to buy doggie tylenol and antibiotics! GOOD TIMES, GOOD TIMES! I couldn’t believe they had a straight face when they gave us the total amount. But, unfortunately they weren’t joking. So, this is where we thank George Bush for paying the ER bill!
We came home on Saturday and got everything unloaded and cleaned back up. On Saturday night we all got comfy in the living room and watched Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark. We didn’t realize it was on until 20 min after it had started, so the boys didn’t get to see the opening scene. We’ll have to watch that part, it’s a great scene!
On Sunday we spent most of our day at The Ballpark. Brian got tickets from work for the Ranger’s game. It was a great time, even though the Ranger’s lost. They were giving rhinestoned ballcaps at the gate, it was $1 ice cream day and our seats were behind home plate! The next time, if Brian thinks it’s a good idea to give a 4 year old cotton candy, then he’s sitting next to the 4 year old, not me!!! Between the ice cream, popsicle, peanuts and cotton candy he was a mess, but he sure did look happy!

I’m betting that the 4 year old was sweet enough BEFORE you sugar-coated him! What a cutie. It sounds like your life has been rather exciting lately. Did your family give you a day off to rest up from Mother’s Day?
